- Each day, the goalpost retreats a bit more. Whether we faced success or setbacks yesterday, it doesn’t matter—the goalpost still moves. Every day presents a challenge to step up, pushing us to strive for the betterment of our future selves. We must rise to the occasion daily, embracing it as a test of our growth and resilience.
- Today, I met a woman from Liberia who’s been in the US for 8 years. She revealed stark cultural contrasts: in the US, work is for survival; in Liberia, it’s a rare blessing. Despite the poverty, she believes that, on average, Liberians are happier due to stronger family bonds and more joy in everyday life. She noted that, in Liberia, community and connection are central, and people take time to celebrate life. Ignorance is truly bliss for her family back home, who find contentment in simplicity.
- What is “holding a grudge”?
- It means staying angry or resentful toward someone for something they did in the past. Instead of letting these feelings control you, see them as temporary thoughts that come and go. By not giving them power, you can stay calm and balanced, making it easier to move on and find peace. Embracing this mindset leads to greater emotional freedom and resilience.
